The King Edward VI School Sixth Form is a great choice for progression. We will offer advice on subject choice, and combinations of subjects, so that students make informed and appropriate decisions according to their abilities and aspirations; we will encourage students to take advantage of the wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer.
Our reputation for first class teaching and learning, and student support, is reflected in our excellent post-16 results and forward movement to Higher Education.
Our Value Added data, which measures the progress students make from GCSE results to A level, has been significantly positive form many years. This is down to our commitment to support students of all abilities, across all subjects.
Entry into our Sixth Form requires a minimum of 5 GCSE passes grades C or better, or new level 4 or better.

Study Support
Post 16 students at The King Edward VI School have sole access to a modern facility, the Advanced Study Centre. This is a dedicate Post 16 work space with access to IT, projection and video facilities, as well as bookable meeting rooms for small group work or study groups.
Within the Advanced Study Centre (ASC) is all the support our large Post 16 community will need. There is a dedicated admin team who look after attendance, bursary, UCAS and an array of other things that help students on a day to day basis.
Two mentors offer support, information, advice and guidance including pastoral, academic and progression routes. Year Leaders are also based in the ASC to support students and promote the study and work ethos of the centre.
Bridging Week
Bridging Week will begin on Monday 10 July 2017 and all prospective students wishing to join in September are expected to attend this week. This week will provide an opportunity to meet your new tutor, find out about the school and also follow a week of your timetable to actually start your lessons. This will allow you to make an informed judgement about your subject choices. There will be an opportunity to make final subject choices in the days following your GCSE results in the summer.
