Study
This is an ICT based Graphic Design course designed to prepare students for industry level design. Over the two years, students will be introduced to both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Year 1: Building knowledge and understanding of the software and developing a number of technical skills with an emphasis on experimentation and testing. Exploring different styles of graphic illustration including. low poly, digital painting / drawing, hyper-realism, and vector portraiture
Year 2: The Personal Investigation requires a well developed personal response and furthers knowledge and understanding editorial design and the formal elements of art. The externally set task is distributed in February. There will be approximately eight weeks of preparation time before the 15 hour controlled task.
Assessment
Each Project is assessed individually and students are provided with regular feedback and suggestions for improvement, using Google Classroom.
Unit 1: (60%): Personal Investigation including a 1000-3000 word illustrated essay
Unit 2: (40%): Externally Set Task
What Next?
This subject combines well with Art and Design (Photography), Art and Design (Art, Craft and Design), Design Technology. Students who have completed their A Level in this subject have gone on to study Art and Design Foundation courses, Fashion Design/Marketing, Textiles, Interior Design, Architecture, Graphic Design, 3D Design, Game Design, Jewellery Design.
